As PPC manager’s, our jobs can be very busy with running multiple campaigns and accounts. With Google AdWords automated rules we can alleviate some of our more tedious tasks like changing your daily budget on peak shopping days and modifying your max CPC bids based on CTR or conversion rates. Once we have our automated rules in place, we can eliminate redundant tasks. This will allow us to focus on more important and strategic goals. There really is no reason not to use AdWords scripts, they are designed to save you time and help you manage your AdWords account more efficiently.

One of my favorite rules is the “Increase keyword bids to first page CPC when below first page bid” rule. To create this rule:
- Click All online campaigns in the left panel of your AdWords account.
- Click the Keywords tab.
- Click the Automate button, and select “Raise bids to first page CPC when…” from the drop-down. Note that the “Max. bid” and “Below first page bid” boxes will be automatically checked.
- In the “Apply to” section, choose All but deleted keywords in all campaigns
- Set the frequency to Daily using data from Previous day.
- Name and save your rule.
Here are some other popular automated rules. They range from ad scheduling to pausing low performing keywords to adjusting bids. As digital marketers we are constantly looking for more effective and efficient ways to do our job. So get started! Begin experimenting with AdWords scripts for your PPC campaigns.
